Are you looking for Tennis Lessons for Beginners? Figuring out the proper grip is common question that novice players ask. In tennis, there are several grips you can use. For the serve and volleys you should focus on the continental grip. For the forehand you should use a semi-western grip and backhand you should use an eastern grip. Each grip will provide you with the perfect amount of spin and power to help you hit effective shots. Tennis Lessons for Beginners usually cover all the needed grips that a player needs. Learning the grip can take time and ultimately is something that a player must commit to and learn over time.
Malcom Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours to master something, but the good news is it wont take 10,000 hours! Our coaches at San Diego Tennis Lessons are encouraged to teach the grip in only a few lessons! That only means 2 hours and you will understand the grip to each stroke. Of all the grips to learn the hardest grip to learn would be the continental. The reason the continental is that it’s hard for beginners to learn how to volley with this grip. This grip gives a lot of people fits because you normally use it on your overhead or serve. Most beginners have a tough time adjusting from a serve grip into the volley grip. The biggest tip to overcome this would be to practice, practice, practice! Try doing a serve and volley drill where you have a basketball of balls and you serve the ball in your continental grip and then volley in the same grip. What will eventually happen is muscle memory will take over. Muscle memory can take time but that is the key to getting comfortable with this grip. Just remember all you tennis lessons for beginners out there, that learning grips takes time, but muscle memory will take over and you will a better player for it! www.fuzzyyellowballs.com
